Moscow

Out and About

Saturday evening after Violet woke up from her nap we went with a friend downtown. Here are some pictures and videos (by the way… you can make the pictures bigger by clicking on them, also if the words are blue it goes to another link, check it out!).

Not sure exactly what this fountain’s name is, but it is located close to the Kremlin and St. Basil’s. And underneath of it is a large underground mall.

This is actually a map, with Moscow sticking up on the right side in this picture

close up of Moscow, can you see it?

Next we walked over to the Alexander Garden.

sorry for the blurryness

If you would like to see a really cool panoramic view of this area you can click here. We didn’t get very many pictures because we noticed the changing of the guard for the eternal flame was happening. So we rushed over to get some video.

Later, we stopped to hear this Russian guy playing his guitar and Violet started dancing. She dances all the time whenever she hears music.

Pumpkin Bread

The other day Micah and I were in the nearby market getting a few vegetables and on the way out I saw some of these:

a pumpkin!!! (the apple is just there for a size reference)

I was so excited!! Micah didn’t think it was a pumpkin, but once I cut that baby open, I knew for sure. It smelled so good! Maybe I was just feeling like a part of home was here or about to get here, with thanksgiving coming up. I love making and eating food with pumpkin in it, autumn is one of my favorite times of the year. The cooler weather, the colors of the leaves changing, the pumpkins…love it!

such a pretty orange color!

So after cooking the pumpkin and mixing it for a good 10 minutes (I don’t have a blender or food processor, thankfully there was a electric mixer in the apt.) it resembled a pretty good looking puree. After freezing some I also decided to make some pumpkin bread.

Pumpkin Bread!!

The first one kinda just disappeared. So I made another one. Whats next? Pumpkin pancakes for breakfast on Saturday!!!

By the way… If anyone would like the recipe you can find here at this website: Allrecipes.com . This was a new recipe and is definitely a keeper!

Leaves

around the playground

Lately it has been pretty chilly out, so when we do go outside we are normally walking pretty fast so we stay warm. Hopefully we can get some better close ups of the fall leaves soon before they all fall off!

Pictures from last year around this time:

one of our favorite family pics!
