Cloth diapers

Well, it’s started. After spending tons of money buying disposable diapers and wipes for the last three years for Violet, we decided this time around we would try cloth diapers. My sister-in-law and other friends have used and are using cloth diapers, which has been successful and they are very happy with. So a couple months ago I had heard about a website that assists families with small children. I applied for the diaper grant and they accepted us! I was so happy, because even though it is way cheaper than disposables in the long run, the first start up price can be a little daunting. It worked out that they were sent to my parents in time for them to bring them over when they came. And my sweet sister-in-law bought some herself for us to be sent over too!

I’ve been waiting to use them for a bit, just because the baby pretty much poops all the time. But after buying a few packs of disposable diapers, I thought why am I waiting and wasting money, I have free cloth diapers waiting to be used! Yes, she still is pooping all the time, but that’s why we have our washer. 🙂

Here’s some pictures of Keira (7 weeks old) in her cloth diaper:

BTW, we have started sleep training Keira. Which means instead of holding her when it’s time for her to go to sleep, we put her in her crib. We followed the Babywise schedule with Violet and it worked great. She napped great and was and is still a happy girl. It had been getting very tiring for me during the day and night always holding Keira, so it was definitely time. I swaddled her the first couple times, which she seemed to really like and only cried for about 5 minutes each nap, if that. But I think I’m gonna do without the swaddle just so she doesn’t need it every time she sleeps. Last night she cried a lot longer, even with me going in and trying to soothe her every little while, but she did a 5 hour stretch of sleeping by herself, so I’m pleased with that for right now since we just started. I also found this website that I like to refer to for questions, which I’ve found really helpful. Please be thinking of us, that she can get on a good schedule, without me stressing out too much and so I can get back to class in the near future.
