Caviar

Today our teacher brought us a special treat to try, caviar. Here it is a very common thing to eat since Russia is the second largest producer and exporter of caviar. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia… “Given its high price in the West, caviar is associated with luxury and wealth. In Russia and other Eastern European cultures, though still expensive, caviar is commonly served at holiday feasts, weddings, and other festive occasions. In Russia, the concept generally includes both sturgeon roe (black caviar) and salmon roe (red caviar), the former not necessarily superior to the latter.”

Salmon Caviar

Served on buttered bread = delicious!

We both really liked it! It has a fishy taste, of course, and is a little salty. But when it’s spread thin on some buttered bread it is really good.

Gifts from home!

Hi Friends!

Today we got a package in the mail! It was Katrina’s birthday this week so Katrina’s mom sent a package back on September 14th hoping that it would arrive before Katrina’s b-day. Well, it didn’t get here before then, but it arrived only two days late! This definitely makes our week! It’s always an encouragement to us to get something from home.

Thanks for checking out our blog!

The happy birthday girl

Katrina's language helper, Julia, went with Katrina to the post office to help fill out the required form

What a haul! These are items that are usually hard to get here. Thanks to Sharon and Rachel for putting it together
