At the Dacha

Hi Friends!

This last weekend we were invited to our friend’s dacha (country house) for the weekend. There ended up being close to twenty people there. We had a great time just relaxing, practicing our Russian, and getting to know people better. Here are some pictures, thanks for checking out our blog!

It’s been a year!

Hi Friends!

We can hardly believe it, but we have now been here in Russia for a whole year! It feels like just yesterday we got off the plane and arrived at our new apartment, entering into a whole new country with a culture and language that we didn’t understand.

Now, as we look back on our first year here, we are happy to say that we now feel comfortable with certain aspects of language and we understand some parts of the culture. But we still have a ways to go before we truly are “fluent”. Throughout this next year we will continue to study this language and culture so that when we move out east to work with the people there we will truly be able to speak to them in a way that they can understand.

Thank you to those of you who have been faithful to sustain us through our first year here. We are excited for the future, we are excited to carry out Dad’s plan and we are thankful that He is faithful in every situation.

Violet is excited too!

Shooting with Andrei

Hi Friends,

This week I went with my language helper into the forest to get some target practice. We have a large forest just behind our apartment so it was easy for us to find a good tree to pin the target on. We had fun shooting his bb gun for a couple hours. And I learned some new vocabulary as well!
